Abstract

The research project "Political Processes of the Bioeconomy between Economy and Ecology - Bio-Ökopoli" was conducted at the Chair of Political Science with a focus on Sustainable Development at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. In this project, scientists analyzed political measures and processes of bioeconomy policy in Germany from 2017 to 2020, with a focus on the area of bioenergy policy. In the project, case studies were conducted in close cooperation with the collaborative partner at the FernUniversität in Hagen for the European, national and subnational levels in the thematic fields of bioenergy policy, biofuel policy and bioplastics policy. Using the political process inherent dynamics approach (PIDA), selected cases of bioeconomy policy were analyzed and compared. This report provides an overview of the background of the Bio-Ökopoli project and summarizes the research results from the Magdeburg sub-project.
